What Coverfly actually was

Coverfly bundled three different things, which is why no single replacement exists. It was a contest submission hub (one profile, many competitions), a coverage marketplace (paid professional reads through WeScreenplay and ScreenCraft), and a discovery engine (the Red List, where enough contest points put your script in front of reps for free). You have to replace each piece separately now.

The map, piece by piece

• Contest submissions: FilmFreeway is the surviving hub. Austin Film Festival, PAGE, Final Draft Big Break, and most regional fellowships either run their own portals or list there. There is no unified points system anymore, so track your placements yourself.
• The Red List: nothing directly replaced it. Roadmap Writers offered free marketing help to ranked Red List writers after the shutdown, and Stage 32 invited writers to move accolades to their profiles. Screenshot or export any placement history you still have. Contest laurels on a personal site now do the work the Red List used to.
• Paid human coverage: independent services still exist, generally $100 to $250 per read with days of turnaround. The Coverfly-owned shops (WeScreenplay, ScreenCraft coverage) are gone.
• Free feedback: peer swap communities, writing groups, and r/Screenwriting exchanges survive, with the usual tradeoff: the notes are free and the taste is uneven.
• Feedback while you write: this is the piece Coverfly never had, and the piece we build. Coverage tells you what is broken after you finish. A story partner catches it in the margins while the scene is still warm.

The honest take on what to do

Contests were always a lottery with an entry fee, and the shutdown proved the ladder could be unbolted overnight. The work that survives a platform collapse is the script itself. Spend less on submission fees, get more reads on your pages, and make the draft undeniable before you pay anyone to judge it. Between drafts, contest laurels still help. During drafts, you need eyes on pages.
