A reader, built by a filmmaker

Better Draft is made by Sam Morris, a filmmaker and producer in New York.

I make films. Every script I finished, I finished because someone read it honestly and early, and every script I abandoned died quietly with nobody honest in the room. Most writers never get that room, and the people selling a substitute charge $100 a read and take two weeks.

So I built a reader. Penn reads the whole draft, marks what is not working next to the line, and argues back when you push. It never writes your pages and never trains on them. That is the entire idea.

Better Draft is a small operation and I like it that way. When you reply to an email from us, I read it. When a note misses, tell me and I will fix the reader.
